If you want to accomplish big things, you have to first do big things. Sometimes those big things take us outside of our comfort zones. And sometimes those uncomfortable, big things are seemingly simple.
For example, have you ever struggled with asking someone for help, money, or a favor?
Most launchers have a hard time making an ask or forget to articulate the question. We can never assume people know what we want or need. To accomplish our goals, we must ask questions — sometimes big, bold questions. As the age old adage says, “If you don’t ask, you won’t receive.”
What is Your Bold Ask?
What is that one thing (or several things) that could help get your idea where you want it?
Do you want team members or volunteers to work extra hours to get the project done early?
Do you need guidance and wisdom for the direction of your business?
Do you need additional funding from investors for a new project?

How to Ask
It’s simple: Just ask!
OK, maybe at first, asking bold questions isn’t as simple as, “Just ask!” But it can become second nature once you hone your skills.
No matter what you’re asking for, you should always approach it with kindness. You are asking something of someone else, after all.
Don’t be overly aggressive, assertive, or too opinionated. On the other hand, you don’t want to come across as timid, uncertain, or apologetic with your ask (Yes, we are walking a fine line!).
Generally speaking, when people are stressed or trying to assert authority, they go to overly apologetic or completely domineering. Actively choose to do neither. Practice being quietly confident in who you are, what you have to offer, and be humble in the areas you need assistance. You should always be teachable.
Kindness, humility, and quiet confidence are keys to making that bold ask. Then your team, investors, leaders, and peers will listen and want to help.
